Child Dedications

5 Points Dedications

Sunday, October 25th, during our 11:30 am time, we will be having Child Dedications.

At our Child Dedication service, parents commit to raise their child to know Jesus Christ for the glory of God and pledge to raise their children in a Christian home and church where he or she can come to know, love, and serve Jesus. A child is a God-given trust (Psalm 127:3).

Child dedication is not the same as infant baptism. We believe that baptism is a public statement of faith that can be made only by someone who has personally believed in Christ. Infants cannot make a personal decision to believe in Jesus.

You will not have to recite a pledge during the ceremony. You should, however, read and decide whether you are able to commit to this pledge:

“Declaring Christ as Savior and Lord and believing in my heart that God raised Him from the dead, I acknowledge that my children are gifts from God, that I am a caretaker by His grace and, therefore, accept the responsibility for raising my family to know and follow Jesus. As a Christian parent:

  • I will demonstrate for my child Christian integrity in my personal life.
  • I will teach my child the meaning of fidelity in my marriage.
  • I will show my child the meaning of fellowship and servanthood through my church.
  • I will model my faith in my life, in prayer, and the application of the Bible’s truth as I teach my child to follow Jesus as Lord.

You can email dedicate@baf5points.com to let us know or sign up at our children’s registration desk on Sunday.

Why Baptism

This Sunday, August 23rd, is ConneXion Sunday at 5 Points which means it is another day to celebrate those who will be baptized.  Here is a little bit of why you should be baptized.

WHAT IS THE MEANING OF BAPTISM?

1. It illustrates Christ´s burial and resurrection.

“Christ died for our sins… He was buried… and He rose again.” –I Cor. 15:3-4

“For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ.” –Col. 2:12

2. It illustrates my new life as a Christian.

“When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!” –2 Cor. 5:17

“By our baptism then, we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead… so also we may live a new life!” –Rom. 6:4

Baptism doesn´t make you a believer – it shows that you already believe. Baptism does not “save” you, only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring – it´s the outward symbol of the commitment you make in your heart.

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith… it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” –Ephesians 2:8,9

Five Reasons To Be At Work Day

This Saturday, August 8th, is a Campus Work Day…a day when we are going to get our campus ready for the fall.  We thought we would give you some reasons to be there.

  1. To Serve – It’s an opportunity to do what we are called to do…SERVE
  2. Guests Are Coming – With the start of a new school year and summer being over people start settling back into their routine.  It’s also a time when we see a rise in people checking out our campus.  We want to give them a great first impression.
  3. It’s Your Church – If you are a member or call 5 Points your home church…that means it is only going to be as GOOD as YOU make it.
  4. Meet Others At 5 Points – Many people will be out and it’s going to be a great time to get to know others.
  5. To Help Your Team – Our leaders will be working on many of their areas…if you are part of a team it’s your chance to help take your area to a new level.

Why Not

BaptismOne of the best stories in the bible about baptism is found in Acts 8 when an Ethiopian Eunuch, who has a divine appointment with Philip, puts his faith in Christ and immediately says: “Why shouldn’t I be baptized?” That one question reveals a why not mindset. And it changes the course of history. He becomes the first missionary to Ethiopia.

George Bernard Shaw once said: “Some men see things as they are and ask, ‘Why?’ I dream of things that never were and ask, ‘Why not’?”

This Sunday is ConneXion Sunday…a day when we have communion and baptism at both our 10 and 11:30 a.m. services.

If you have made the decision to pray and begin a relationship with Christ and have not been baptized as Christ was then this is your Sunday.

Why not have the attitude of the Ethiopian Eunuch who said, “Why shouldn’t I be baptized?”  Why not follow the example of Christ when He Himself was baptized by John in the river Jordan?  Why not make this Sunday a Sunday to remember!!!!  There’s no better time.

One Year @ 5 Points
